JOCO Mojri: A Modern Indian Loafer, Rooted in Craft, for the World.

Handcrafted Indian Loafers for the Modern Sartorialist

The Rajasthani Mojri is more than footwear—it’s a living legacy: crafted with artisanal skill, refined by generations, and continually reinterpreted for life in motion. Once favored by royalty, today's mojri appeals to those who value style as a balance of heritage and future. At JOCO, our mission isn’t to preserve the past—it’s to evolve it.

Our handmade men’s mojris are designed for the present: sleek, grounded, and globally relevant. Each silhouette honors Rajasthan’s tradition but is reshaped for the modern world. The result is footwear infused with art, culture, and connection—a spirit rooted in music, dance, ritual, and color, now reframed for contemporary living.

The soul of a shoe matters, especially in a world of fleeting trends.

Inspiration at Pitti Uomo: Where Traditions and Tomorrow Meet

In January 2024, I attended Pitti Uomo in Florence—the epicenter of global men's style. The event’s energy, meticulous craftsmanship, and attention to detail left a lasting impression. It wasn’t simply about tailoring or leather—it was a shared passion for meaningful design innovation.

This inspiration drives JOCO’s journey. When we returned to Pitti Uomo 107 & 108 as exhibitors, our debut wasn't merely about showcasing shoes; it was an invitation to a conversation: Indian origin and artistry, elevated by Italian and Spanish craftsmanship, confidently placed among global luminaries. The mojri’s refined silhouette sparked curiosity—not nostalgia, but evolution. To me, Pitti wasn’t just a launch; it was a vision realized—Indian heritage standing shoulder-to-shoulder internationally, interpreted with global sophistication.

From Ceremonies to Modern Living

Traditionally, Mojris are frequently worn in Rajasthan, particularly at Indian weddings and festive occasions. Today, JOCO’s stylish leather loafers move seamlessly from traditional Indian celebrations to everyday smart looks—be it an Austin music venue, a London festival, or a Western wedding in Texas. JOCO Mojris are not bound by occasion or tradition; they are designed for a life in constant motion.

What Sets JOCO Apart

In a market crowded with sneakers and conventional loafers, JOCO offers distinct style:

  • Signature curved lines, subtle asymmetry, unmistakably Indian spirit

  • Luxury loafers featuring raised soft leather soles and high-quality Italian leather from renowned tanneries

  • Deep authenticity: conceived in India, handmade in Italy

The Choice: Why Spain and Italy?

JOCO remains Indian at heart—but style is a conversation without borders.

Traveling from Rajasthan to Austin, and through design cultures globally, I've learned true style emerges from intersecting traditions. Producing in Spain—and now Italy—wasn't about "better craftsmanship"; it was about expanding the mojri’s global narrative.

Why these locations?

  • Shared Craft Values: Spain and Italy consider shoemaking deeply cultural, reminiscent of Rajasthan’s artisan communities. This collaboration is about connection, not replacement.

  • Small-Batch Artistry, Global Vision: European workshops enable unique, limited-run silhouettes, refining Indian curves for international tastes.

  • Personal Openness: My journey from India to global cities shapes JOCO’s philosophy: rooted yet open. Making shoes in Spain and Italy shares India's craft on respected global stages, enhancing the mojri’s spirit.

The Craft & Materials

Each design starts as a sketch, perfected through detail: a gentle toe curve, balanced sole, soft lining. JOCO sources premium full-grain leather from esteemed tanneries, incorporating breathable padding for sockless comfort. Mojris are hand-assembled in small batches—slow fashion with a clear vision.

Style in Action

Wear JOCO Mojris to weddings, cafés, gallery openings, or street festivals. Stylists appreciate their versatility: pair with linen suits, tailored trousers, or selvedge denim. No rules—only freedom to express your unique global style.

Style Guide Suggestions:

  • Denim and casual shirts

  • High-waisted trousers with Cuban collars for a modern edge

  • Formalwear or elevated denim for everyday luxury

  • Summer suits paired with contrasting scarves

Think earth tones, cotton or silk blends, subtle pant rolls to showcase shoe curves. Let your style breathe, speak softly, and stand apart.
